St. Rose Hospital OB Department Earns Recognition

St. Rose Hospital receives 2011 BETA Healthcare Group Quest for Zero Initiative Recognition.

Aug. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- St. Rose Hospital is one of three elite BETA member hospitals to have received the 2011 BETA Healthcare Group Quest for Zero Initiative Recognition. Designed to bring together perinatal teams including physicians, nurses and midwives, BETA’s program is setting a new standard in OB patient safety by reinforcing a common language and encouraging close collaboration. In doing so, St. Rose hospital is sharing and practicing the latest techniques for more effective risk management. To meet the strict requirements of BETA’s program, the entire perinatal team at a participating hospital must achieve 100-percent compliance in several key areas to promote the best possible outcome for maternity patients.

“This recognition demonstrates the dedication and collaboration of both the nursing staff and physicians at St. Rose Hospital, states Michael Mahoney, President and CEO of St. Rose Hospital. “ Our commitment to high quality patient care is carried through every stage of our hospital operations.”

In 2010, St. Rose Hospital committed to participate in BETA’s annual OB Patient Safety Program that includes an intensive curriculum focused on electronic fetal monitoring and analysis, team communication strategies, and emergency management in labor and delivery. As OB nurses and doctors progress through the continuing education program, staff communications becomes clearer and more consistent, and OB patient safety and risk management continually improve as teams work more closely together. This level of active, collaborative participation has allowed St. Rose Hospital to implement proven clinical quality improvement strategies directed at reducing perinatal harm.

“We are very proud of this accomplishment,” states Mariellen Faria, Vice President of Patient Services at St. Rose Hospital. “By meeting all goals and objectives of this initiative, St. Rose Hospital continues to set the standard to bring the highest level of expertise to OB/GYN care.”
