By: ZimExpo Sportsperson of the year: Ben Chabvonga Scholar/Academic Award: Evelyn Mukwedeya Community Service: Saneliso Moyo with Zanele, NGO D.J of the year: DJ Spinalong Business Person of the year: Patience Chigumira of Chiggy’s Touch Salon Entertainer of the year: The Tich Maredza Band ZimCanada Person of the Year: Rev Dr. Francis Mpindu. Master of Ceremonies Chenayi Shava and Wellington Saunyama, live performance by Tich Maredza and DJ Spinalong rounded out the evening. Another landmark event was the Business Forum attended by Her Excellency, Ambassador Chideya. Discussion topics ranged from the current economic climate in Zimbabwe to resources that are available to those in the diaspora. The Ambassador urged those in attendance to pool their resources and use platforms such as this one facilitated by ZimExpo to network, find out each others skills and abilities, diligence in research and planning and to start taking action towards specific goals. Princess Munemo was crowned Miss Zimbabwe Canada 2011 with 1st Runner up Ruvimbo Chidakwa and 2nd runner up was Lisa Dube. Princess Munemo now has a chance to compete to represent Zimbabwe at the upcoming Miss Earth 2012. The weekend’s activities concluded with a soccer tournament and BBQ with the soccer team from Toronto winning the cup.
