GADCO Launches its Copa Brand and Initial Rice Products

Aug. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Amsterdam/Accra – (August 13, 2011) - GADCO (Global Agri-Development Company), the agri-food company focused on cereal and protein-based foods in sub-Saharan Africa, is proud to launch its new brand ‘Copa’ in the West African food market.  Copa’s initial product launch is perfumed Jasmine rice marketed in the Ghanaian market.  All of the Copa rice is produced locally on GADCO’s farm in Sogakope, Ghana.  

“The launch of Copa’s initial food product is the culmination of a truly international effort organized by GADCO over the past few years.  The team have worked diligently to introduce new technology and cultivation methods primarily from Brazil to produce very high quality rice for the local market. GADCO is currently expanding hectarage for rice production, and with the Fievie community will soon be launching its smallholder program aimed at transforming livelihoods through innovative market access programs” commented Toks Abimbola, co-Founder and Director of GADCO.  

Consumer demand in West African rice markets has been growing at over twice the population growth rates, presenting an opportunity to build domestic and regional packaged rice products.  The majority of the demand is currently met through high cost imports.  GADCO’s inclusive and sustainable business model is perfectly placed to capture market share in these domestic and regional value chains.  Copa’s initial Jasmine rice products will be marketed in 5kg and 25kg packages in Ghana.
