Aug. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- Employees from BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Company recently teamed up with Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida, Inc. (CAC) for its United Way Day of Caring project. The project was part of BB&T’s third annual Lighthouse Project which gives staff an opportunity to make a difference in their community through company-supported and funded service projects. Employees displayed their compassion for CAC by creating a choice food market at the East United Way House and volunteering at the Pine Manor After-School/Summer Program.

Employees volunteered as reading buddies and homework buddies, and made arts and crafts projects with the children at the Pine Manor After-School/Summer Program. Employees also collected books and stuffed animals for both the Pine Manor and East United Way House locations. At the East United Way House on Palm Beach Boulevard, BB&T volunteers renovated existing space to create a choice food market for clients. Employees painted, installed lighting and shelving, hung new blinds, decorated and landscaped. BB&T-Oswald Trippe and Company provided funding for all the renovations including the purchase and installation of new flooring and baseboards.

“CAC is so grateful to have BB&T - Oswald Trippe and Company’s support.  Their commitment to our community and the children of Southwest Florida is unparalleled. The volunteers went above and beyond in their efforts to meet the needs of our clientele,” remarked CEO, Jill Turner.
