World Mental Health day is October 10. I am mentally ill. I have been a “user” for 25 years. This year, in your coverage of mental health issues, why not have an expert patient?
In 1990 I wrote a play, Cracked Up, about my experiences. It outlines my multiple diagnosis, several hospitals, cocktail of drugs and being chained to a bed. I toured it to several countries. Now I don’t just want to tell my story, I want to give my advice.
I’ve written a practical guide; “Ten Steps to Mental Wellness”. This is tied in to the lessons I’ve learned on the road to recovery. I would love for it to be part of your coverage for World Mental Health day.
