After the first Yogurtland opened in 2006, the company began franchising two years later. Today, Yogurtland has 150 locations in 16 states and U.S. territories. By the end of this year, the company projects that there will be more than 200 stores worldwide.

At the company’s annual franchise conference this past May, Chang announced Peter Bassi, former chairman of Yum! Restaurants International, and Tom Davin, former CEO of Panda Restaurant Group Inc., as the first members of Yogurtland’s newly formed advisory board. Gearing up to open 550 stores by 2015, Bassi and Davin will help develop a long-term strategy to accelerate Yogurtland’s growth over the next three years.
About 70 percent of Yogurtland stores are located in the western U.S., but recent openings include two stores in New Jersey and another in Kirkwood, Mo. The franchise development department is currently targeting Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina for growth.
