Aug. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- The Chicago Association of Litigation Support Managers (CALSM) today announced that it has set the date for its 3rd Annual CALSM-posium, an educational conference for professionals working in and around the fields of electronic discovery and litigation.  This year’s conference will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Union League Club of Chicago.

CALSM-posium is designed to give attorneys, paralegals, litigation support professionals, technical and IT support professionals, and service providers practical insights and tools that they can implement in their everyday practice.  Kicking off with lunch and reputable keynote speakers, the day features timely panel discussions providing education in electronic discovery and litigation support best practices, and concludes with a cocktail reception where attendees can personally engage industry luminaries and network with peers.

This year’s keynote panel, entitled “Perspectives from the Bench: Judicial Initiatives Around E-Discovery”, features noted jurist and Seventh Circuit Electronic Discovery Pilot Program founder Judge James F. Holderman (Chief Judge, ND IL), Pilot Program participant Magistrate Judge Byron G. Cudmore (CD IL), and Judge Peter Flynn (Cook County, IL). This year’s Moderator, Sean Byrne (Counsel, Project Leadership Associates, and Pilot Program Technology Subcommittee co-chair), will explore Federal and State court judges’ thoughts around commonly encountered issues relating to ESI preservation and discovery, suggestions to streamline the discovery process, and how parties can resolve disputes regarding electronic discovery quickly and cost-effectively.

Other 2011 panel discussions include:
•   Alternative Pricing Models
•   Improving Searches; Recall & Precision: Practical Insights from the TREC Study
•   Cloud Computing...Beyond the Basics
•   Offshore Review: Advantages and Challenges from Counsel’s Perspective
•   Social Media and eDiscovery
•   Understanding Concept Analytics
•   International eDiscovery
•   eDiscovery for the First Time and Small to Mid-sized Businesses

Barbara Hanahan, CALSM’s President and CALSM-posium Chair, says, “Chicago has some of the country’s most noted e-Discovery and litigation support experts and this year’s CALSM-posium promises be one of the top educational conferences in the Midwest.  We’ve grown year after year, with a 70% increase in attendance over the inaugural event in 2009, and interest has been high thus far in 2011.  We expect a fantastic turn-out and lively discussions throughout the day.”

CLE accreditation is pending in Illinois. More information, including an up-to-date speaker list, and online registration can be found on www.calsm.org/calsm-posium.php.
