Well Done! NYC Initiative to Honor Top Non-profits and Community Leaders September 7

La Frai DS to honor and raise monetary donations for four leading non-profits making an impact in New York City Communities improving the quality of life for youth and everyday citizens.

Aug. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- New York Cares, The Mamma Foundation for the Arts, Uptown Girl Power and Reverend Al. Sharpton’s National Action Network are slated to receive the First Annual “Well Done! NYC” Award honoring non-profit leaders and community activist for their outstanding work making New York City communities a better place one initiative at a time.  Organized by La Frai DS’ President & CEO Tawana Sharee Butler, the “Well Done! NYC” Awards Benefit will be held Wednesday, September 7 at Libations NYC 137 Ludlow ST from 6:00PM-10:00PM.

Inspired by the need to recognize New York City community leaders implementing beneficial programs for disadvantaged youth and locals, La Frai DS researched non-profits aligned with the vision of “Well Done! NYC.” Butler and her team selected top organizations based on their community impact. “As a token of appreciation, this benefit is designed to honor and applaud these self-less and deserving individuals for their job well done” said Butler. “We hope the benefit will serve as a call-to-action to New York public figures, celebrities, athletes, media personalities, and extraordinary citizens to give back to their community through service and fundraising.”

Leaders from each organization confirmed to attend include Gary Bagley, Executive Director of New York Cares; Vy Higgensen, producer, actress, singer and president of  the Mamma Foundation for the Arts; Majora Carter, co-founder of Uptown Girl Power (also co-founded by Judith Raphael, Kerry Washington and Joy Bryant); and officials from the National Action Network.

This eco-green carpet event will be hosted by New York-based radio personality, Jasmine Sanders.  "I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this wonderful event honoring people who are making a difference in our community,” said Sanders, an on-air personality at Fresh 102.7. “It behooves us to make more of an effort to shine a light on people who give of themselves in order to help others. Events like this could be the catalyst we need to push others to give back and though I don't believe one should do it for the recognition; I do believe we sometimes need a little inspiration."

Sanders will kick-off the benefit with networking, live celebrity performances and guest speakers, auction hosted by Raymond Hakimi of Jewel of Ocean, wine tastings by Nectar Wine Bar,and proclamation from Public Advocate Bill de Blasio. Film producer and director Anky Cyriaque, founder of award-winning production house Hidden Film Studios, will unveil his short-film on New York City community activism.

“The success of the ‘Well Done! NYC’ initiative will be determined by high attendance from New York City leaders and donations as ticket purchase” explained Butler.  “This benefit will be an experience to remember as we intend to educate guests on why community service is important to a city that thrives with enlightened and educated residents.  Together we can make a difference and to do that, we need support from all New Yorkers.”  Early-bird tickets can be purchased for $65.00 via http://welldonenyc.eventbrite.com.

ABOUT Well Done! NYC

WELL DONE! NYC was created by Tawana Sharee Butler, the founder of La Frai DS (www.lafraids.com), a well known New York-based fundraising and event  planning firm. Inspired by the various community groups and philanthropists she met over the years while fundraising on behalf of the New York City public school system, Butler felt it was time that they were appreciated for their tireless and “thankless” efforts to help those around them. An overwhelming desire to give back and show appreciation to these “unsung heroes” of New York City gave birth to Well Done! NYC, and organization dedicated to encouraging and fostering volunteerism.  Well Done! NYC hosts the annual awards benefit of the same name. For more information about Well Done!
