PRLog - Aug. 11, 2011 - BOSTON -- Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson are upset with Sponge Bob and have attacked the Nickelodeon character on the air! It seems the "Fox & Friends" co-hosts recently expressed their disapproval that the network is teaching kids about the perils of man made changes in the environment and as they stated "pushing a global warming agenda."
Gretchen Carlson was appalled that the character which she doesn’t fully understand is" talking a lot about global warming, and he's only looking at it from one point of view," The controversy arose because the Department of Education sponsored an event called “Lets Read Let’s Move” aimed at getting young children to read more and featured at the event President Obama’s sister Maya Soetoro-Ng who read the book Sponge Bob Goes Green and Linebacker Chris Draft the duo read to students and while promoting reading and exercise as important to a child’s well-being, gave all the children there a free book entitled “Sponge Bob Goes Green! An earth friendly adventure.”
The books were paid for by corporate sponsors. Fox news charged that the Department of Education showed kids a clip from The Sponge Bob cartoon where one of the characters Mr Krabs was trying to create an Endless Summer by polluting the air so his business profits would stay high. Tim Tuten of The Department of Education denies this allegation and stated children had a wide choice of books to choose from at the event. Carlson was upset that the cartoon and the book depicted the primary causes of global warming as man-made. Carlson called this “a disputed fact.” whatever that means. Despite the fact that over 95 percent of scientists believe in man originating climate change according to the National Academy of Sciences
Steve Doocy went on to state"… Nickelodeon is pushing a global warming agenda, and while there's no disputing the fact that the earth is getting a little warmer, the big question is, is it man made, or is it just one of those gigantic climactic phases ... For a while we're cold and then we get warmer and then we get colder and warmer, which one is it? …There are a lot of scientists who say, 'It's this,' others say, 'It's that.” Carlson also admitted during the report that she had difficulty understanding the Sponge Bob cartoon but it seems she does understand that the cartoon acknowledged the existence of global warming and that goes against the conservative there’s nothing wrong with the environment mantra of the Fox network.
