Aug. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- KEITHVILLE, LOUISIANA – Keithville grandmother and former teacher Annie Kessee Dixon has penned a story to help children become comfortable with and enjoy their older relatives. Her new children’s book, Great Grandpa Went to Heaven in His Wheelchair, tells the story of two young boys who get over their fear of their great-grandpa as they share various experiences.
“I wrote this book to help young children understand and become comfortable with older relatives, such as great-grandparents,” Dixon said.
The inspiration for the book came from her own grandchildren’s experience with her father, their great-grandfather. Through a series of exchanges, the young characters in the book go from fearing their great-grandpa to looking forward to seeing him.
Dixon conducts short readings, workshops, and other events for children. She also speaks to adults about multigenerational issues. She conducts staff development workshops, family retreats, and other programs.
The ebook is available for immediate download at Amazon.com and BN.com.
