Diesel Power Products Welcomes New Sales Manager

OffRoad Power Products, a division of Diesel Power Products, is proud to welcome the newest member to our team, Cooper Rasmussen.

Aug. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Who better to fill the position of Sales Manager at OffRoad Power Products than a man who has had a love affair with off road and diesel since childhood?

Cooper Rasmussen, Diesel Power Products newest team member, first discovered his interest in diesel when his family was moved to Germany.  His father was stationed in the Air Force at Ramstien AFB.

Cooper enjoyed driving a Kaiser M-715 military Jeep that his friends referred to as “Big Ugly” and that was way beyond the power capabilities of the SB Chevy under the hood.

His real diesel passion, however, came to life with a trip to Cape Disappointment where his sister was stationed in the Coast Guard. It was there that Cooper interviewed with the Columbia River Bar Pilot Association.

“At the time the CRBPA had just received their new boat the Chinook”, Cooper explains, “which was a 72’ heavy weather boat capable of speeds up to 40 knots that ran twin Hamilton water jets being pushed with twin 16V-2000 Detroit Diesels.”

Cooper wanted the job with the CRBPA so he attended SCC’s Diesel Heavy Equipment program to learn as much as he could about how diesels worked. He was offered the job with the CRBPA but turned it down because he wanted to complete his education.

Cooper completed his two years at the college on the President’s Honor Roll, all while going to night school and taking summer school classes so that he could go on to an engineering college with some practical experience, as well as the required prerequisites.

During Cooper’s time in school he apprenticed at Pacific Detroit Diesel.  Eventually he began working full time at the company, and it was not long after that he started taking on a big portion of their mining business and performing on site repowers to help meet the next tier emissions specs for the EPA.

Cooper’s next job was with the Dave Smith dealership where he was “happily surrounded by oceans of diesel trucks”.

At the time, Cooper was working on his own truck. It was a 93 manual regular cab that he began modifying everything on. This truck, Cooper says, helped him decide what he really wanted: to race in the Baja 1000.

“I met Bryan Howell and the Diesel Power Products crew a couple of years ago when this project was still in its infancy,” Cooper says. “We were introduced through mutual friends in the diesel field.”

Bryan, DPP’s owner, heard of Cooper’s claims of wanting to not only race the Baja 1000 but to drive the truck down --“GOT DZL” plates and all-- race it, and drive it back home. With this goal in mind, Cooper began spending a lot of time chatting with the DPP team.

Cooper and the Diesel Power Products team hit it off. Cooper liked the way Diesel Power Products did business and he was ready for a career change. Diesel Power Products was ready for Cooper Rasmussen.

Today Diesel Power Products is pleased to officially announce Cooper Rasmussen as the Sales Manager for its OffRoad Power Products division.

Welcome to the team, Cooper!
