The one day campaign was open to all individuals suffering from eye problems and those who receive treatment from diabetes and glaucoma in surrounding villages. Aim was to raise awareness on eye health care amongst the public, foster greater unity spirit with families in needy areas and offer them free medicine, eye glasses and surgeries.
The response was overwhelming with close to 700 people turning up to have their eyes checked, 63 cataract surgeries and lenses’ implants made by donating doctors and hospitals, 350 free eyeglasses granted to people of short/long sight and almost 200 people received free medicine and eye drops.
“These amazing results and the wonderful integration of all efforts of Sheraton Montazah, business sector, hospitals , pharma companies and NGO’s were all making a leading example to follow for giving support to people incapable of work or earning adequate income. We do hope that one day we can overcome blindness threat and extend more treatment options to eye problems’ sufferers ” , said Atef Wilson, General Manager of the Hotel.
