Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Sansom Park, Lake Worth and Fort Worth Texas; The Academy of Combat Application Techniques will begin registering for their fall session on 20, August. They will be registering for classes in children's martial arts, adult Mixed Martial Arts, Military knife and hand to hand Combat and Women's Self Protection classes. Andrew Curtiss; the head instructor, has been teaching women's self protection clinics since he was an assistant instructor along side his martial arts teacher when he was a teenager. "My martial arts teacher is a law enforcement officer in upstate New York. He would have me assist him in teaching quarterly clinics. That is where I learned the ropes when it came to teaching this type of program."

Andrew's original plan was to conduct monthly clinics at his place of business; but since he posted the information about the women's training on his website; he has been flooded with responses; inquiring about a regular scheduled class. After much consideration he decided to make a slot for a regular class and still do clinics periodically. Curtiss says that this type of training as a regular class is a rarity and isn't done often. According to him, The Academy of Combat Application Techniques runs a different sort of program in that the women are not only trained in hand to hand and close quarters techniques; but also use of force, deadly force, the Texas Penal Code statutes for deadly force, self defense, awareness and counter surveillance methods, and improvised weapons.

Curtiss cites the string of mass attacks and glorified by the media and YouTube videos of public fights as reasons for increased vigilance and heightened awareness. He also cites the economic downturn of America and historical data of increased crime rates in countries facing economic duress as being fodder for future increased violence. "Criminals are like wolves and they go after easy prey. Statistics have shown that victims who fight back and resist hard are far more likely to survive the ordeal or prevent it altogether. Wolves go after sheep not other wolves" says Curtiss.

Located at 5840 Jacksboro highway, in Fort Worth Texas, registration for all fall classes will begin on Saturday at 10am and will run till 2pm August 20 2011. A week later on 27 August the training center will run another registration for all classes. Curtiss is expecting a high turnout rate and says that space is limited. He suggests that those interested in all classes, but especially the Women's class appear for the 20 August registration if they want to secure a slot in the class.
