Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- The primary evidence Hawking presents is the existence of sub-atomic particles that suddenly appear from nothing, then disappear and reappear elsewhere. Grasping at laws, Hawking says this behavior of sub-atomic particles is evidence that the entire universe and everything in it came from nothing, without God.

Other evidence of no God is that time stops in a black hole where Hawking says was the location of the origin of the universe, and since there is no time in a black hole, God cannot exist without time. Hawking does not address the theological argument that God exists eternally outside of time.

Hawking also avoids the major questions of the source of unique human value, moral right and wrong, and the meaning of human life: foundation principles of society rooted in divine revelation.

The social implications of scientific atheism and secular humanism are far-reaching. In the absence of a transcendent source of meaning, morality, and human value, any society is left vulnerable to increasing crime, violence, mental illness, family breakdown, despair and hopelessness.

Laws against murder, assault, theft, and fraud, depend upon the social acceptance of the unique and superior value of human life above other life forms, yet human value is solely an assumption, a belief that is not scientifically observable.

If humans possess no greater value than other life forms and increasingly view themselves as only a particular organization of atoms, there can only be steady social decline.

The social impact of growing secularism and atheism is an increase in criminal behavior as observed in the former Soviet Union and other East European countries where atheism was the state policy for many generations.

With the increase in unbelief and atheism and the accompanying deconstruction of marriage, there will be a predictable further breakdown of the family caused by infidelity and the abandonment of children.

Economic decline will be fed by a loss of moral conviction that depends upon basic honesty derived from a transcendent moral standard and ultimate accountability. Evidence of this moral decline is already apparent in the financial decisions and behavior of companies and individuals motivated by greed resulting in over-borrowing and lending, fraud schemes, and unethical business practices.

With the loss of meaning and purpose of life in individual lives and within the general population, there will be a predictable increase in mental illness, depression, addiction, and suicidal behavior as people lose the ability to maintain hope and a positive attitude.
