Verizon Gives STEM Grant To Tech Council’s Future Focus Foundation

The Region 2000 Technology Council’s Future Focus Foundation, received a grant from Verizon to support a variety of their STEM programs for youth, with an emphasis on the Jr. FIRST LEGO and FIRST LEGO Leagues.
 
Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- The Future Focus Foundation, the educational non-profit organization of the Region 2000 Technology Council, received a $9,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications. Steven Cronemeyer, Verizon area manager, External Affairs for Verizon presented a check to the Tech Council’s executive director Jonathan Whitt at the Region 2000 Partnership offices.

The grant will be used for the Future Focus Foundation’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) youth initiatives that reach out to area students through such programs as the Jr. FIRST LEGO and First LEGO Leagues, which encourage critical thinking, teamwork, real world problem solving and other essential skills needed to thrive in science and technology careers.

The Technology Council is passionate about helping our region’s youth explore educational pathways that lead to STEM careers.
