The Just4Friends website www.just-4-friends.com went live on August 8th and will reach out to millions of US residents from age 18 to 100 looking for friends. Kirsten and Steve tell us that they anticipate subscriptions to reach about 1,750,000 by the end of the year. When asked why, they stated, “This world simply needs more fulfilling friendships.”
The Vaughn’s came up with the business idea when they were having dinner in downtown Denver and have been working to get the website launched ever since. Kirsten said, “We noticed all of the friends gathering to enjoy a meal out, and realized that was what was missing from our lives. As busy professionals, we have found that establishing friendships outside the workplace has been difficult. Our website allows people to look for a friend or a couple to look for another couple for friendship. And, by the way, Steve and I were the first two customers!”
Just4Friends, Inc., is a local company that the Vaughn’s plan to keep in Colorado. It will be staffed by local talent and will grow right here in Colorado. Steve said, “You will never see farming and games on our site. We want people to use our site to meet other people with similar interests and values and then get out from in front of the computer and enjoy their lives!”
The social media industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the U.S.
• Social networking accounts for 1 of every 6 minutes spent online
• As Facebook reaches market capacity (reaching 157.2 million visitors and 73% of the total U.S. Internet population each month), its growth has not been limited. Facebook has increased average U.S. visitor engagement from 4.6 hours to 6.3 hours per month over the past year
• As MySpace declines, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Tumblr have grown at impressive rates.
