Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Ernest R. Gilchrist’s new Creative Non-Fiction book “Fusion of Cultures: The Spirit of ArgyllAmerica™ Revealed” will be released through various outlets on August 18, 2011.

Scholars have previously written about North Carolina’s Argyll Colony but the Fusion of Cultures goes in-depth into the multicultural relationships developed by the various peoples of the Sandhills and the Upper Cape Fear River Valley.  This may be the first creative non-fiction piece written which focuses on the “hybridization” of the people and places of significance in the region since Harnett County native and Pulitzer prize winning playwright Paul Green’s non-fiction literary works.

The age-old questions commonly asked by many of the Gaelic speaking Scottish Highlanders upon meeting a stranger or one not familiar were “Co as a tha thu?” meaning “Where do you come from?” and “Co leis a tha thu?” translated as “Who do you belong to?” Fusion of Cultures seeks to address both of these questions in a creative manner consisting of narrative and memoir, based on empirical research intertwined with the author’s own ambiguous history, current or past events, or the experiences of others. Gilchrist makes the point that the development of the history and culture of ArgyllAmerica™ (also referred to as a region or place) cannot be credited to one group of people only but must shed light on the fact that its uniqueness was and still is today a reciprocal relationship.

The official book release and singing will be held at Atlantic Station, in the Lobby Conference Center, 171 17th Street, Atlanta, GA on August 18th at 4 pm - 8:00pm.  The event, planned by S&B Business Solutions, Inc., will be one of many celebrating the beginning of Gilchrist’s journey to the Best Seller’s list.
