Aug. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Keen visitors to our little corner of the web will no doubt be aware that here at P4u Towers, we like playing with stuff, although usually, the stuff we get to play with is generally of an electronic persuasion and phone-shaped.

However, in the course of the recent seating plan re-jig at P4u HO (that’s Phones 4u Head Office for those of you with an aversion to acronyms), we happened upon all manner of miscellaneous stuff knocking about the place and you can imagine our surprise and delight when we found a massive box of our childhood favourite Lego.

Now, we’re not entirely sure if Lego people are sentient, but if they are, you’d expect them to feel aggrieved that they’ve been denied the luxuries of modern day living, luxuries that include the provision of mobile communication.

Yes, we’ve seen from the boxes in shops that in Lego world, stuff like airports, theme parks, restaurants and erm, ski-slopes exist, heck, the dimple-headed yellow chaps even have their own emergency services (the Lego Fire Station being a firm favourite of ours when we were young ‘uns). But even though the Lego folk seem to enjoy all the trappings of modern day living, we noticed that there’s just nowhere for the smiley little sods to buy their mobiles from. So we stepped in …

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re proud to officially announce the first, of what will hopefully be many, Phones 4u retail stores constructed specifically for the Lego community.

Designed and built by our own fair hands (whilst sat on the carpet in the office), the store is located in a prominent location chosen to maximise footfall and heighten brand awareness amongst the Lego demograph and will provide a much needed service to Lego folk who’ve previously had to rely on web-based retailers to purchase or upgrade their mobiles (http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_upgrades_main.asp?int...). And that’s pretty difficult considering there’s no internet service providers either.

Phones 4u Head of Brand Communications, Caspar Nelson, said: “For too long now certain minorities have had to put up with poor, or even non-existent service simply because nobody has bothered to find out whether they have course to use mobile technologies.

“It’s staggering that the Lego emergency services sector has managed to operate for so long without even the most rudimentary communications infrastructure, and even more so that the Lego public have tolerated having to make do with unsuitable, often extortionately priced devices designed for human use.

“With our flagship Lego store, we hope to remedy this situation and provide Lego consumers with a comfortable environment in which to buy the latest smartphones and tablets at competitive prices.”

The Lego Phones 4u store threw open its doors at 9am this morning and did a brisk trade with Lego folks dropping in throughout the day to snap up specially-optimised-for-Lego-people versions of popular handsets.

Customer Dave Brick said: “This is a boon for Lego people the world over as now we don’t have to buy massive phones that cost as much as a house from unscrupulous online retailers.

“It’s good that Phones 4u have recognised our plight and this store is hopefully the first of many.

“I’m not quite sure about these new-fangled touchscreen devices though – they’re quite hard to use if you don’t have fingers.”

Phones 4u Lego store is situated at Phones 4u Head Office, Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire. Visit http://www.phones4u.co.uk for details of opening hours.
