British Academy of Management Conference 2011

The RAPPORT consortium is organising a Symposium entitled ‘Knowledge and Technology Transfer in the Public-Private Innovation Partnership Model’ to take place on Thursday 15th September 2011 in Birmingham, UK as part of the British Academy of Management Conference 2011 (http://www.bam.ac.uk).

The goal of the Symposium is to establish a forum for the latest knowledge and technology transfer approaches in the context of public-private innovation partnerships. The Symposium will draw from the experience of RAPPORT (http://www.rapport-project.eu), a European project aiming at identifying good practices of programmes supporting knowledge and technology transfer for Small and medium-sized Entrerprises (SME).
A new phenomenon is emerging the last years in the innovation management. Large enterprises adopting actively the paradigm of open innovation are joining forces with organisations from the wider public sector (such as universities, regional agencies) with the aim of upgrading the innovation capabilities of SMEs. The Symposium will offer insights into the practices of these partnerships following the research of over 40 relevant programmes across Europe. The symposium will review schemes like:
- Syntens a Dutch public agency that works with Shell to deliver the LiveWIRE international project supporting technically innovative entrepreneurs.
- IMEC a Belgium headquartered organisation conducting world-leading research in nanoelectronics via a partnership-based model.
- ESA Business Incubation Centres who provide technical expertise and business-development support to start-up companies
The Symposium will be an opportunity to hear the experiences of public-private partnership innovation programmes on the challenges they faced and approaches they are following. In addition, the event will provide opportunities to network with innovation programme managers and practitioners active in supporting SMEs as well as entrepreneurs, academic researchers and policy makers.
The agenda is as follows:
