Outlook Foundation Granted Non-Profit Status by the Internal Revenue Service

IRS Formally Recognizes Outlook Foundation as a Public Charity

Aug. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- LAS VEGAS, NV, Aug. 4, 2011 –  The Outlook Foundation, a non-profit organization created to refurbish and repurpose computers, providing them to under-resourced children, as well as U.S. military personnel, announced today that it has been granted non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, as a public charity.

“This is very exciting news,” said John Iasiuolo, Outlook Foundation president and host of Internet talk show, the Computer Outlook Talk Show.”We began the application process in February, and not everybody receives the designation. Meeting all of the IRS standards and requirements is pretty rigorous. We are so pleased to be formally recognized as a non-profit organization.”

Launched in November of 2010, the Outlook Foundation has received donations of laptop and desktop computers from corporations as they upgrade and replace their equipment. The Foundation refurbishes and repurposes these used computers, and then gives them to school children who would not otherwise have access to a computer, and to U.S. service personnel and their families, to help them stay in touch during deployment. All computer parts that are not used in the refurbishing process are recycled through certified organizations, keeping electronic waste out of our landfills.

“The Outlook Foundation’s official non-profit status will allow us to greatly expand the reach of our program and touch many more lives,” Iasiuolo said. “We can now conduct corporate and individual outreach activities, apply for grants, and accept volunteers. The monetary contributions we receive will be used to help us cover initial start-up costs, the purchase of materials, and the hiring of repurposing staff.  We ask everyone who is interested in making a donation to the Outlook Foundation to please visit our website at https://outlookfoundation.org/donate.
