Are you prepared for summer?

Aug. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- With many companies and businesses already employing extra staff for the busy summer months, it may be prudent to take a moment and see what steps have been made to ensure, not only the safety of the employee but the safety of the public who may be interacting with them.

In these cost aware times some companies may be tempted to overlook the safety issues that surround temporary staff, in particular;

Induction - Has the employee had a safety brief? What to do in the event of a fire? What are their responsibilities?

DSE - Did the employee get a proper assessment of their desk? Is the screen the correct height? Is the chair set correctly?

Manual Handling - Has the staff member lifting loads? Have they been trained? Do they know the risks?

Risk Assessment - Are there any hazards in the working area? Are members of the public at risk? What about slips and trips?

Fire Evacuation - Do staff know the evacuation plan and meeting points? Are they trained to use equipment such as Evac Chairs?

Most businesses will be aware they are strict penalties now for non compliance with current Health and Safety laws and pleading ignorance or a lack of funding for training will not be any form of defence.

Make sure you have taken all the necessary steps not only to protect your staff and your customers, but your company and its hard built reputation.
