Aug. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Baseball fans in Central New Jersey towns like Bridgewater, Somerville, Denville, Basking Ridge, Morristown and Flemington are familiar with Sparkee, official mascot of the Somerset Patriots!
However, Sparkee is a dog of few words. In fact, he rarely speaks at all!
While we all know how he brings joy to thousands of fans all season long at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, New Jerseyfew people have had the opportunity to get to know the real Sparkee.

http://www.yoursomerset.com, the go-to community website for people living, working or visiting Somerset County, New Jersey, was fortunate enough to have this beloved public personality answer a few questions we've been wanting to ask him for a long time.

Yoursomerset.com: We see that you have a "complicated" relationship with Slider, do you like each other?

Sparkee: Slider is my best pal. I know a lot of people find it weird that a cat and dog are good friends, but stranger things have happened. We may play tricks on each other, but we generally just enjoy being friends.

Yoursomerset.com: Are you friends with any other mascots on other teams?

Sparkee:I have a lot of mascot friends in the area. We don't agree on who the best team is, but we do get along. Eventually they will see that the Patriots are the best!

Yoursomerset.com: You recently had a birthday. How did you celebrate?

Sparkee: The Patriots threw me a nice birthday party and surprised me with over 20 of my mascot friends and some of my family members. There was even a cake with my likeness jumping out of it. It was awesome!

Yoursomerset.com: What are your favorite snacks at the stadium?

Sparkee: I tend to eat anything I can find. I am a dog. My favorite is probably hot dogs, because you can’t enjoy a baseball game without them.

Yoursomerset.com: You do so many great things in the community, do you have anything coming up you would like to tell us about?

Sparkee: I travel all over the area to visit friends and help at different events. I enjoy being busy and seeing kids and families all over New Jersey. Anytime I’m not at the ballpark, you can find me out and about. It’s one of my favorite things to do all year.

Yoursomerset.com: Why don't you wear pants with a tail hole in them?

Sparkee: My uniform was designed special to make it so my tail is comfortably hidden from sight. That way I don’t spend the entire game chasing it. That darn thing always drives me crazy.

Yoursomerset.com: Has a kid ever tried to bite you?

Sparkee: I’ve had some interesting encounters, but I’ve never been bitten. Would you want to bite a six foot gray dog?

Yoursomerset.com: Do you resent that they sell hot dogs at the stadium?

Sparkee: They aren’t made of dogs silly. They are actually one of my favorite treats.

Yoursomerset.com: Tell us about Bark in the Park that’s coming up in August.

Sparkee: Bark In The Park is a fun night where families can bring their dogs to the game. I meet a lot of new four-legged friends at the events. There is a lot of sniffing going on at first, but all the dogs seem to enjoy each other. The next Bark In The Park is August 23rd and should be a great night for the whole family.

Yoursomerset.com: What do you love most about TD Bank Ballpark?

Sparkee: I love the people that come out to see me and the Patriots. We have great fans and they make me feel very special at every game. There is always so much going on that it is impossible not to have fun at the ballpark.

Yoursomerset.com: Any final message for your many fans?

Sparkee: I look forward to seeing everybody at the games and in the community. When you see me, come over and give me a big hug.

Thanks Sparkee! We'll see you at the next Patriots game!
