Renault-Nissan Alliance Working To Build Infrastructure For Electric Cars

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug. 3, 2011 - Renault-Nissan Alliance group is currently working with the U.S government and various electric companies in order to engineer and develop a network that will be able allow a large number of people to drive EV’s. Building the proper network is an immense network and cooperation will be needed by numerous agencies and businesses in order to even try to make it work. Most likely locations for stations would include shopping centers and places for employment because it would give drivers something to do while they wait. The current administration is pushing hard for electric cars; they are aiming to have over one million electric autos on U.S streets by 2015. California currently has the largest number of stations in the nation with 400. Portland and San Francisco are also working hard to develop their infrastructure.

Electric cars like the Nissan Leaf are equipped with a battery which needs to be charged after 100 miles or so. Since the mileage range is around 100 miles before it needs a recharge it’s best suitable for people with shorter commutes. There is sufficient room to seat five persons. Two trim levels are available; the standard SV and SL. The Nissan Leaf provides exceptionally smooth acceleration and braking. The interior is well insulated and contemporary looking. Standard features include Bluetooth, Ipod, a stereo system, Bluetooth compatibility and a USB slot to plug in your mp3 player. Pricing starts at around the $32,780 range and a tax credit for $7,500 is available by the government which brings the price down to around $26k.
