Smart Buildings Institute Appoints New Board Member

Jake Jackson will assist the Institute to evaluate and certify smart, efficient buildings and building operations

Aug. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- The Smart Buildings Institute has announced that Jake Jackson, Principal of Assurity Design Group, has been appointed to the Institute’s board of directors.

In addition to the SBI board, Mr. Jackson is also co-chair for ISA’s Building Automation System Technical Interest Group, the VP-Elect for Professional Development Department at ISA and co-chair for ISA Unified Functionality for Building Automation.

“Jake is a strong and knowledgeable resource in the automation industry and we look forward to benefiting from his insights and experience as a member of SBI’s board,” said Jim Sinopoli, Board Chairman.  “The Institute is proactive in appointing board members from a broad range of industries with a diverse set of skills and knowledge of the market and its practitioners.  Board members are expected to be actively involved in continued development of the Institute’s principles and guidelines.  Jake will add a new dimension to our growing board.”

Mr. Jackson has more than 18 years of automation experience, with a focus on building systems. He is a Certified Automation Professional (CAP), LEED AP, and MCP. Standards organization such as ISA, ASHRAE, and InfoComm are a high priority to him. At InfoComm he serves on the Energy Management Standards committee and is an advisor to the Integrated Building Technologies Task Force. He is a member of the ASHRAE/NEMA SPC 201 SmartGrid Information Model committee as well.

The addition of Mr. Jackson to the Institute's Board of Directors ensures the organization will continue to benefit from a diversity of knowledge and opinions as well as strong leadership and extensive experience in energy, systems, technologies, services, and practices that comprise the makeup of a Smart Building.  

The Institute is currently updating its prerequisites and conditions of smart building evaluation.  A fundamental goal of the Institute is to stay current, relevant and ahead of the changing marketplace.  The Institute considers its ever evolving criteria as its strong and driving contribution to a sustainable environment.  Its next release of building evaluation conditions will include security measures, energy programs and certification expiration.
