Two of Vintage Seekers’ leather bags were made for army officers during the Second World War: an original 1940s WWII officer’s map case and a 1940s leather officer’s kit bag, which has the embossed initials ‘C.C.M’.
The oldest piece is a WWI military camel saddlebag commissioned in England for the Egyptian military store, most likely used in the Palestine Sinai or Gallipoli campaign from 1910-1914.
With their rich brown leather and belted straps the bags and cases are exemplary of early 20th century military kit design. These bags fit in perfectly with the current trend for satchels, yet have the enduring appeal of true vintage items.
In women’s fashion there’s now also a 1920s French barrel-shaped boules bag. It features brass fittings and is a very unusual shape with gold twist lock and semicircular handle. A stunning piece in fantastic condition.
The new range of vintage leather military bags sit alongside the larger leather Gladstone weekend bags, vintage leather luggage and ladies’ crocodile handbags listed in Vintage Seekers Fashion.
