Ensuring that the system can be remotely monitored, managed, and controlled over the Internet is critical. A leading company in the USA needed an embedded computing solution to provide critical monitoring and reporting services for a solar energy application.
The Requirements were front-end communication computer for remote monitoring, data acquisition, data logging, and protocol conversion, Compact form factor for easy installation, wide operating temperature range for harsh environments, data logger with multiple connections for data communication, real-time, web-based communication to monitor the solar array performance, battery load, and energy generated/saved, design that ensures a longer MTBF to enhance system reliability and AI/O, DI/O module board for environmental sensor devices.
The solution was to ensure that the solar energy system can be remotely monitored, managed and controlled over the Ethernet, Fat Spaniel Technologies decided to use Moxa's UC-7110 embedded computers to construct the entire system. The UC-7110 functions as a front-end communication computer to connect the PV inverter, AI and counter input module, and power meter. It is also used for remote monitoring, data acquisition, data logging, and protocol conversion
