Sonelis Technologies debuts the Lumitouch solar touchscreen, a ground breaking solar touchscreen design for tablets. The first Lumitouch prototype is designed to fit tablets with 9.7inch touchscreens. The idea behind the Lumitouch is to maximize the power efficiency of electronic devices by directly embedding solar panels into the touchscreen glass. The solar panels overlap with the borders of the tablet’s LCD screen, thus, the aesthetics of the tablet are not changed. With proper charging circuit optimization, the Lumitouch could extend the battery life time considerably even when placed indoors. Sonelis, a specialist in custom solar modules, can customize the Lumitouch to fit tablets of other sizes.
Philip Fu, Sonelis’ Sales Director, commented “A lot of people don’t realize that solar panels are still generating power even when indoors. The Lumitouch is another perfect example of integrating solar power into our daily lives in innovative ways, while maintaining perfect aesthetics. Companies and consumers should realize that long battery life can not only be achieved through low power components and large battery size, but also on how a device self-charges. The Lumitouch opens this door.”
Michael Yu, Sonelis’s Director of Product Development, added, “The Lumitouch is an engineering breakthrough that will revolutionize the way we think of solar power. By embedding solar panels directly into the touchscreen, the glass surface of the tablet stays perfectly smooth. It’s the perfect no compromise solution to extend battery life.”
