Elena Varela Lands Role On Abc's Teen Spirit

Aug. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Los Angeles/ Tampa Bay- On Sunday, August 7th at 7:00 PM ET/PT, ABC Family will premiere its feature film “Teen Spirit” starring Cassie Scerbo, Lindsey Shaw and Elena Varela.  The feature will be part of the network’s annual “Campus Crush” programming event.

Amber (Cassie Scerbo “Make It or Break It”), a mean popular girl is not allowed to enter heaven unless she helps the least popular girl in school (Lindsey Shaw “10 Things I Hate About Your”, “Pretty Little Liars”) become Prom Queen within a week. Things do not go as planned. Cool Aunt Marielle (Elena Varela “Bold and the Beautiful”) helps the girls by contacting Amber’s spirit.  Lucius Baston (also from Tampa Bay) will play Vice Principal Richardson.

With “Teen Spirit” just about to be released and “No One Lives”, her newest movie just wrapped in New Orleans, Elena Varela is on a roll. Born in Washington, DC and raised in the Maryland suburbs, Elena is the youngest in her family’s first American-born generation. Her parents, from Argentina, are whom she credits today for being bi-lingual in English and Spanish. By her early 20’s, she hosted the Emmy Award winning show “Diver©ity” and later hosted the first ever “Mr. Latino America” at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. By 2003, she had become one of the sexy “Kande Girls” on BET’s “The Way We Do It” and landed roles on “Judging Amy”, “Bold and the Beautiful” and “Half & Half”. Her most recent films of 2011 include “Teen Spirit”, “Justice for Natalee Holloway”, “96 minutes” and “No One Lives”.

A single mom as a teenager and going through several tragic set backs in her life, Elena always managed to follow her dreams with passion. Having become an Award-Winning Real Estate Agent in Tampa Bay and raising her son all by herself while pursuing a successful film career, Elena is an amazing role model for other single mothers and for young people in the Southeast that are looking to break into the movie industry.
