Follow on Google News | Formaldehyde Video Becomes an Environmental & Indoor Air Quality HitThe IAQ Video Network’s public outreach video receives a record number of views.
Formaldehyde is a chemical widely used by industry to manufacture building materials and numerous household products. It is also used as a preservative in laboratories, as embalming fluid, and as a sterilizer. Its primary use is in the production of resins and as a chemical intermediate. It is also a by-product of combustion and certain other natural processes. This means it may be present in substantial concentrations both indoors and outdoors. “In homes, the most significant sources of formaldehyde are likely to be from pressed wood products made using adhesives that contain urea-formaldehyde resins,” reported Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network. “As a gas, formaldehyde is colorless and pungent-smelling. High concentrations may trigger asthma attacks in some people. There is some evidence that people can develop sensitivity to formaldehyde. Health effects include eye, nose, and throat irritation; wheezing and coughing; fatigue; skin rash; severe allergic reactions and possibly cancer.” To view the formaldehyde video please visit http://www.IAQTV.com or http://www.youtube.com/ To learn more please visit http://www.cochraneassoc.com, email info@cochraneassoc.com or call (602)510-3179. # # # About Cochrane & Associates, LLC Cochrane & Associates is a business development, public relations and marketing consulting firm that specializes in the environmental, HVAC, mold and indoor air quality industries.
