Aug. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- “Actress/Producer Moniqua Plante has won “Breakout Action Star” at the Action on Film Festival which took place last week in Pasadena, California. She won for her role in the short film “Pillow Talk.” The film will also screen at the 7th Annual HollyShorts Festival in Hollywood on August 16th.

Written and directed by John Wynn and produced by Plante, the short action/drama "Pillow Talk," delves into the duality of sexually and emotionally charged relationships, the complex boundary between love and hate couples often face.

Previously, Plante earned the “Award for Leading Actress” at the Best Shorts Competition for her role in “Pillow Talk” and the film has earned accolades and screenings at IndieFest, Santa Cruz International Film Festival, and the Beverly Hills Shorts Fest.

The San Francisco native is more than rolling with the punches at her new found action-star status. After appearing as a tough cop in the TV series “Southland,” and the award winning “Pillow Talk,” she’ll next take on bank robbers when she guest stars on HBO/Cinemax series “Femme Fatales.”

Other notable roles have included the horror/thriller feature “The Absent,” appearances on the CBS hit-drama “Ghost Whisperer,” the WB’s “Gilmore Girls,” and the comedy series “Kath and Kim.” She is set to star in the indie short film “Buttons in the Ground.”

Moniqua Plante is represented by The Atherton Group (James Boyle) and New Wave Entertainment (Abbey MacDonald).
