Eatdrink Releases Its First Thing - Limited Edition Book on Wine: "Bouquet" by G. B. Stern

A 1926 travelogue of two couples who drink, eat and gently bicker they way through France

Aug. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA (August 2011) – Last printed in 1933, “Bouquet” by G.B. Stern will be re-released on August 15, 2011 in a beautiful limited edition exclusively available for purchase at www.eatdrink.co. “Bouquet” will retail for $85.00 before tax and shipping.

“Bouquet” recounts Stern’s 1926 tour of the vineyards and restaurants of France with her husband Johnny, and friends Rosemary and Humphrey. Stern was a highly esteemed author, a playwright and literary critic, whose literary circle included the likes of Noel Coward, Virginia Woolf and Rebecca West. Her prose is brilliant, witty, hilarious and utterly addictive.

Bouquet is “a triumphal tour,” read the New York Times book review of July 10, 1927, “and Mrs. Stern has set it down with that happy sense of humor, that perfect eye for the ridiculous and that instinctive understanding of French character that lifts ‘Bouquet’ very far from the usual dry book about wine.”

Though Bouquet was written nearly a century ago it still resonates deeply with the wine aficionado today. For not only does the group visit and drinks countless ancient vintages from wineries that remain great today  - Chapoutier, Romanee-Conti, Lafite, Yquem, Margaux, etc… - but in a subplot worthy of the most heated debates found throughout blogs or on bulletin boards, each couple, one preferring the wines of Burgundy and the other those of Bordeaux, sets out to prove to the other that their favorite region reigns supreme.

“Bouquet” will be released in a stunning cloth-bound, silk-screened, hard cover limited edition of 950 copies. Eatdrink has commissioned award-winning Taiwanese illustrator and animator Hsinping Pan to design a whimsical, joyful, folk-art inspired cover for “Bouquet.” The book will be printed with eco-friendly ink on heavy, FSC certified paper. Furthermore, whereas most books are nowadays printed in China, eatdrink has chosen to print “Bouquet” in Pasadena, CA with The Castle Press, who received in 2007 the award for Best of the Best workplaces for their outstanding human relations practices from the Printing Industries of America /Graphic Arts Technical Foundation.
