Precision Paddleboards Announces Expansion of Stand Up Paddle Race Team

Aug. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Fort Lauderdale, FL, August 1, 2011 - Precision Paddleboards, South Florida’s Stand up Paddleboard Specialty Shop, is proud to announce the signing of 5 new competitive Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) racers to the Precision SUP Race Team. Joining elite SUP racers Mary Anne Boyer Willis of Weston and Chris Stephan of Deerfield Beach on the race team are:

Mark Athanacio (46) – Naples, FL.  A SUP racer since 2009, Mark is a consistent podium finisher in the Southeast’s 12’6 (stock) Elite races with multiple 1st place overall finishes in 2011, including the 2011 Gulf Coast SUP championship. A California native, Mark has been a personal trainer, strength coach, and junior lifeguard trainer for more than 25 years.

Molly Militello (24) – Fort Lauderdale, FL.  A Lifeguard for Fort Lauderdale Ocean Rescue, Molly’s passion for the ocean and watersports has been evident since her junior lifeguard days. A highly-competitive, multiple-discipline athlete, Molly has domestic and international victories in beach flags, rescue and beach relays, prone and stand up paddleboarding, including an open class victory in the 2011Paddle for Humanity.

Luke Goetz (24) – Fort Lauderdale, FL.  An instructor for Pure Surf Life and the Stand Up Paddle Academy, Luke won the first race he entered in Orlando, Florida, clearing the field by more than 2 minutes. As an Elite Racer, Luke has placed in the top 10 in each of his races in 2011, including a victory in the Kayak Against Cancer.

Annette (14) and Conrad (12) Garcia – Miami Lakes, FL.  Annette and Conrad, along with their parents Conrad and Anna Garcia, are avid supporters of the stand up paddle board community, traveling to participate as a family in races across the state. The Garcias are the first junior racers to join the Precision Race Team. At just 14, Annette finished third in the Women’s Elite Blueline race in Jupiter. 12-year-old Conrad is a passionate SUP-surfer ready to take on the open class.

These new additions to the Precision Race Team continue to reinforce the inclusiveness of the stand up paddleboarding athletic community.  “This sport brings people of all ages and walks of life together,” said Josh Vajda, Precision Paddleboards President. “Each Team Racer is an ambassador for the sport. They love to inspire, to teach and to spread the love of paddleboarding through the entire community. We’re proud to add these exceptional people to the Precision Race Team and look forward to seeing them dominate the podiums of races in South Florida and beyond for years to come.”
