By: Media Relations personnel Text2Go August 1, 2011 Kathy Lombardo, the owner and creator of Text2Go, a service that provides "on-demand" texting releases much anticipated "Driving While Intexticated" As of August 1, texting while driving is illegal in 34 states with fines ranging from $20.00 to $750.00 plus points on your drivers license. In states like New Jersey, where texting while driving is a primary offense, law enforcement is cracking down on violoators and issue about 10,000 citations each month. Simply enacting a law against texting isn’t enough to make our roads safer, says the 33-year-old married mother of four. “That’s not a solution. If it was, we wouldn’t have this epidemic,” It's refreshing that nationwide insurance companies are finally realizing just telling our teens "Don't Text and Drive" is not enough. Allstate recently released their "DSGN8D TXTR" campaign movement which offers a solution for saving lives: appoint a designated texter, but what happens when your in the middle of a texting conversation and your "DSGN8D TXTR" is no longer in the vehicle with you? With services like Lombardo's Text2Go, you always have a designated texter. According to Allstate.com, eleven teenagers are killed in an auto accident every day and distracted driving is a factor 25 percent of the time. Lombardo says making this behavior illegal won’t make the problem go away. The company is also currently in negotiations with several national insurance companies to offer customers a discount when they subscribe to Text2Go. Programs like Text2Go's safety tours elevate the national conversation on traffic safety, educate Americans about the dangers of risky driving behaviors and prepare our youngest drivers as they get behind the wheel.
