‘My first game ever as chairman of the Posh was against Everton and Sir Brian made a presentation to me with a picture of the stadium in a frame and I have had a great relationship with him in the five years I have been at the club.
‘Everyone knows Brian’s history and the connection he has to the area, his political career and more importantly what he has done in football and with the Football League.
‘He was my boss for many years and I believe has been the best Football League chairman, so much so I am disappointed he is still not holding that position.’
