Miss Maryland International Wins Title Of Miss International 2011

Aug. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- MISS MARYLAND INTERNATIONAL WINS TITLE OF MISS INTERNATIONAL 2011


LAUREL, MD, - On Saturday, July 30, from a pool of 45 contestants, Ciji Dodds, Esq. representing Maryland was crowned Miss International 2011 at the Northshore Center for the Performing Arts in Chicago, Illinois.  

Throughout the pageant, Ciji competed in 4 categories: interview, fitness, fun fashion wear, and evening gown.  Wearing a stunning gown from La Casa Hermosa, she won the best evening gown for preliminary awards.  As Miss International 2011, she will spend the next year traveling and promoting the International system as well as her platform of "Just Read - Fighting Youth Illiteracy with your First Book!" She will make her first public appearance on Sunday, August 7 at the Maryland Fashion Week opening gala.

Miss Dodds, who currently works as an attorney in Washington, DC, holds a juris doctor (J.D.) degree from Howard University School of Law.  She also obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She is an active volunteer and community advocate with a passion for literacy.  Just Read promotes the importance of childhood literacy through advocacy, education and civic engagement.  Working with First Book, Ciji will dedicate her year of service to providing educational resources to all children and ensuring that every child has the chance to own their first book.
