A quick 'how to' guide by A1 Mirrors Ltd. on storing and handling a mirror

Aug. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Mirror surfaces can easily deteriorate if they are handled incorrectly, poorly stored and not cleaned the right way.  Mirror manufacturer’s such as Pilkington and Saint Gobain offer guidance and instructions for handling mirrors, but we’ve listed some of the most common ways to preserve and look after glass mirrors:

- The glass should unpacked as soon as possible and stored vertically on a suitable soft surface in a dry, well ventilated area with each pane separated by clean paper
- You should try and process the mirror within 6 months
- As the edges are the most vulnerable, it is advisable to use protective substances after processing to protect the mirror from any further corrosion
- To clean a mirror it is best to wipe the face with a soft cloth and clean water and dry immediately

Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and processing notes for optimum finishing and longevity. Keep your processing machinery clean and in good condition to prevent any damage or scratches to the glass surfaces.
