Samsung Unveils First Solar Panel Netbook

Samsung NC215S is a unique net book with solar panel on the back with a 10” LCD screen, 1024 x 600-pixel display and weight 1.3kg. An Intel Atom N570 (1.66 GHz) dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and a 250GB or 320GB drive, integrated Intel graphics, USB ports with Sleep-and-Charge function which can charge the portable device even if the computer is in sleep mode or turned off. It can also do this, even if the battery is depleted, by using the solar panel. It includes a webcam, SD card slot, Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth are the device’s main features. Samsung NC215 netbook is equipped with a 6-cell battery which lasts for 15 hours, in addition to the solar panel on the lid that provides 2 extra hours of battery life.

The innovative hybrid sleep mode combines the fast start-up of sleep with the stability of hibernation that ensures system boot-up within 30-60 seconds.
