O2 Media- The Balancing Act
O2 Media, Inc.
TrueCare®, an internet-based service that monitors children’s activities, recently completed their shoot for O2 Media’s hit morning TV show “The Balancing Act.” The segment, which features child safety advocates Alison Rhodes (The Safety Mom), and Mike Muir from the National Middle School Association, will air as part of the ‘Parent Teacher Corner’ series in August on Lifetime Television. They will discuss online internet dangers as well as talk about ways that parents can help protect their kids on social network sites.
The average child now has in excess of 275 “friends” online. Viewers will learn that there are very real dangers children are exposed to online and in particular via social networking sites. Predators use popular social networking sites to groom their next victim, and many children have been affected by cyber-bullying. There is also a growing volume of children whose reputation has been lastingly damaged by posting an inappropriate photo or comment that ended up being shared with the wrong people.
“Our mission is to help Balancing Act viewers better understand the types of problems that exist online for kids, learn to recognize cyber bullying early warning signs and educate and empower parents to take action and shape responsible social networking behavior,” says David Barker of TrueCare.com.
Letting your children navigate the web and social networking sites is a lot like turning the keys to the car over to your 16 year old. Would you do that without giving them driving lessons? No matter how much you trust your children, how well do you know the people they friend online? How can you trust them to make good choices about things they might never have been exposed to before?
There isn’t enough time in the day for a parent to monitor everything their child and their many online friends are posting, particularly if you have more than one child online. TrueCare®
TrueCare® provides 24/7 monitoring of your child’s Social Network accounts no matter where they access the Internet – at home, a friend’s house or even their mobile phones. For more information, please visit http://www.truecare.com.
