July 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The annual Lory’s Place Reflections Dinner and Auction presented by Fifth Third Bank is on Friday, August 19, 2011, at the Shadowland Ballroom in St. Joseph, MI. Formally known as the Dr. Lory Schults Memorial Lady Skipper Regatta Dinner, last year the event raised over $100,000 toward the  annual goal of $340,000 to provide the services of Lory’s Place.

“All of the proceeds go to providing services for grieving children and their families throughout Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana,” states Lisa Bartoszek, Director of Lory’s Place. “At the end of the 2010 calendar year, 282 children and 419 adults participated in groups at Lory’s Place. Because transportation, finances and schedules can make it difficult for a child to go to Lory’s Place, school outreach programs are available to children in their schools during their school day. In partnership with local school districts, an additional 777 students were served by Lory’s Place at their schools. An additional 1,779 people were served through walk-in visits, phone, email, outreach education, and crisis response. All services are provided at no charge,” continues Bartoszek.

Lory's Place is a bereavement service of Hospice at Home and was created to help children and their families work through their grief so they can become capable, healthy, and optimistic about the future. The services are free to all who need them. Lory's Place is fully funded by the generous donations and gifts of our community through events such as the Lory’s Place Reflections Dinner and Auction.

The community is invited to participate in this event by donating new goods or services for the auction, becoming an event sponsor or making a cash donation. Two hundred $100 raffle tickets are also on sale to win a Grand Prize of $5,000 or First Prize of a Whirlpool Gladiator GarageWorks Package. The winning tickets will be drawn during the August 19th event and people do not need to be present to win. Please visit the Lory’s Place website at www.lorysplace.org for more information.

Generous event sponsors include Fifth Third Bank, Chemical Bank, William and Pat Forbes, KC and Juli Gast, Meijer, David and Barbara Whitwam, Jim and Judy Czanko, Fiskars Construction, the Marzke Family Foundation, Edgewater Resources, Starks Family Funeral Home, Dr. Robert and Janine Harrison, Beacon Specialized Living Services, Siemans in Bridgman, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Utroske, as well as many other community supporters.
