Special Needs Group Names Vanessa McGovern Director of Sales

In her role, McGovern will work with the Special Needs Group team to continue to grow the company, and build awareness in the travel community about how to deliver an accessible world. Specifically, she will work with travel agents across the country to grow Special Needs Group’s affiliate program, which pays a 10 percent agent commission.

McGovern brings a strong travel industry background to her new role. She was recognized as one of the top “30 Under 30” travel professionals by Travel Agent magazine in 2009, and contributed to two Gold Magellan Award-winning teams in 2010 for Cruise Planners University (CPU) and Cruise Planners/American Express New Agent Training.

McGovern began her career in the travel industry working on board cruise ships. Since then, she has grown from agent to sales and business development manager to industry speaker and sought-after social media expert among travel agents.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in History and International Relations from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She has completed cruise line education courses to achieve the designations of Royal Caribbean Expert Plus, Azamara Graduate, Carnival Specialist and NCL Freestyle Specialist, and is a graduate of the Celebrity 5 Star Academy. She is currently affiliated with Women’s Prosperity Network (WPN).
