Follow on Google News | Indie Alternative Duo, ‘the Travellers’ Sign With Expat Records. The band renowned for its vintage sound influenced by sixties psychedelia and seventies groove, has chosen to partner with the Indie label for a string of future musical releases.
By: Expat Records Lead singer Gemma, began singing and studying piano from a very early age. Italian by birth, she moved to London to study interior design. Robert P, Swedish by birth, grew up in London and learned to play guitar by listening to old Led Zeppelin and The Who records from the age of 10. He played in various bands and subsequently toured the pub scene in the nineties, but became fascinated by the new upsurge of electronic music thus diverting attention to this new genre. Constructing a studio based around an Atari 1040ST that Gemma bought him as a present when they became a couple, they produced an electronic album called “Tapping Teapots”. Both Gemma & Robert P compose, write, produce and mix all the tracks and play all of the instruments to a backdrop of drum-loops. Although studio technology has been embraced, a very traditional method to writing and performing makes the music organic and human, a far cry from quantized electronica. This approach is also used when performing the band’s acoustic live set, with Gemma on vocals, Wurlitzer electric piano & melodica and Robert P on acoustic guitar. http://www.youtube.com/ Jeff Libby CEO of Expat Records comments on the signing, “we are very excited about indie alternative duo ‘the Travellers’. They effortlessly create sixties psychedelia and seventies groove with a modern twist that transcends generations. These guys really are something quite special”. Indie alternative duo ‘the Travellers’ will be releasing the single ‘Waiting’ followed by a full-length album in 2011. For more information on ‘the Travellers’ head to http://www.expat- End
