IONA COLLEGE BOARD OF LEGAL TRUSTEES ANNOUNCES FORMATION OF PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION COMMITTEE
13 Volunteers Representing Cross Section of Campus Community to Prepare Inauguration of Dr. Joseph Nyre
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (July 2011) The Iona College Board of Legal Trustees recently announced the formation of the Presidential Inauguration Committee. The committee members represent a cross-section of the campus community including alumni, administration, faculty and students. The committee is responsible for planning the 2011 inauguration of the eighth president of Iona College, Dr. Joseph Nyre which will be held during two days of ceremonies on Thursday and Friday, October 27-28.
“It is a unique time in the history of Iona as the committee prepares for the academic convocation, which will culminate at the inauguration of Dr. Joseph Nyre, the college’s first lay President,” said Jim Hynes, Chairman of the Board of Legal Trustees, “Twelve volunteers have generously committed to serve in this capacity.”
Co-chairs of the committee are Ronald M. DeFeo of Westport, Connecticut, a notable Iona alumnus (Class of 1974), President and CEO of Terex Corporation and trustee and Sister Patricia McGinley, Special Executive Assistant to the President.
The other members of the committee are Dr. Paul M. Beaudin, Assistant Professor and Graduate Coordinator;
“The schedule of events will offer opportunities for the Iona community to unite for a common purpose,” added Mr. Hynes, “It’s a chance for us to reflect and celebrate the past and to envision a future of continued growth in the tradition of the Christian Brothers and American Catholic higher education.”
