“We developed The Artisan Carrier Expo to cater to those individuals who own or operate heavy-duty trucks in their daily business. With new proposed regulations and CSA already in effect, the transportation industry is evolving every day,” said Dennis Brannon, owner of Artisan Logistics, an independent Landstar Agent. “Capacity, safety, fuel, driver recruitment, and retainment are on the minds of each and every leader in the transportation market. We want to provide a platform for education and networking among industry professionals.”
Col. Moore, Director of the South Carolina Transport Police, addressed his agency’s task of enforcing new federal regulations imposed on “for hire” trucking companies. Others addressed topics such as cargo theft and new programs designed to protect drivers and their cargo. According to Doug Wilkes, Artisan Logistics Safety Officer, “Our goal is to bridge the gap between commercial carriers, manufacturers and law enforcement to ensure a unified approach, as well as a commitment to safety and compliance.”
Ben Hoover from WIS NEWS Channel 10 MCed the event. Other speakers included Walt Woloszczuck of the National Insurance Crime Bureau, Rocco Davanzo an Executive VP at Landstar, Jeannie Gordon the VP of Compliance and Landstar, Chris Goedeke of Gamma 88, and Tom Scalise of IOA.
