Cambridge Healthtech Institute Announces its Fifth Annual NGx: Next-Generation Sequencing Conference

July 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Cambridge Healthtech Institute announces its Fifth Annual NGx: Next-Generation Sequencing Conference to be held on September 26-28, 2011 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

Speaker Highlights Include:

• Toby Bloom (Broad Institute) – Toby is an outstanding authority on all things related to NGS data management, including data sharing in the Cloud.

• Isaac Kohane (Children’s Hospital, Boston) – Zak is director of the Children’s informatics program and one of the founders of The Gene Partnership, an exciting new effort to integrate genome data into pediatric medical care.

• David Smith (Mayo Clinic) – One of several speakers describing new applications in transcriptome analysis, David will discuss how transcriptome sequencing is becoming a fundamental clinical tool in understanding cancer development

• Keith Robison (Infinity Pharmaceuticals) – The author of the excellent “Omics! Omics!” blog, Keith talks with refreshing candor about the real-world challenges of leveraging NGS within a pharma operation.

• Amit Meller (Boston University) – one of the co-founders of NABsys, Amit will present in the closing ‘Next-Next Generation sequencing’ session, discussing the latest progress in nanopore sequencing.

• Mark DePristo (Broad Institute) – Talk about ‘big data,’ Mark will discuss the management of data from multiple sequencing platforms in the 1000 Genomes Project.

• Two speakers – Gholson Lyon (CHOP) and Yaniv Erlich (Whitehead Institute) – will discuss two of the most exciting NGS software tools around, the new VAAST algorithm for mutation detection and DNA Sudoku.

In addition, two pre-conference short courses will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011.
