In interior applications granite tiles are really rather beautiful and can be used in many places inside the home to add both elegance and style. Granite is an extremely hard, durable material that will not damage easily.  Natural polished granite will wear extremely well in busy areas like the kitchen but it is almost always advised to treat with a clear sealant to ensure that stains do not penetrate the granite tiles.  Granite is a very dense material and can be porous; using sealant ensures that the tile will maintain its appearance and quality for many years.

There are different varieties of granite tiles and certain finishes are better installed in certain areas, Granite is used very successfully in bathrooms for example but the polished finish is not recommended as a floor tile as it will become slippery when wet, for this reason the honed variety of granite tiles is more suited as floor tiles.

Granite tiles can also be used on shower walls in bathrooms and walls in the kitchen depending on what type of granite tiles you are using and it is always best before purchasing any granite tiles, that they are suitable for the area you are installing them in.
There are different finishes of granite tiles, some finishes are better suited to low traffic areas and will become slippery when wet, whilst other finishes are suitable for high traffic areas such as kitchen flooring.  The hones surface finish is better suited for high traffic areas whilst the brushed and flamed finish is better for external applications.
