Electric Vehicle Charging Station Installed at SCTAC

July 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Greenville, S.C. (July 26, 2011) — SCTAC unveils new Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station on Wednesday, July 20, following an announcement made by the City of Greenville about a partnership and plans for a more sustainable Greenville. At this time, SCTAC was recognized for their sustainability initiatives, including the installation of the EV charging station located at 2 Exchange Street, adjacent to their corporate office.  This new EV station is available free of charge to SCTAC companies and their customers, and will be featured on the US Department of Energy website.

“We are excited to be a part of the “Greening of Greenville” initiative and to provide an EV charging station at SCTAC,” says President and CEO of SCTAC, Jody Bryson. “The installation of the EV charging station is in accordance with SCTAC’s sustainability efforts and we hope to help attract new businesses to SCTAC and the Upstate through our efforts.”

Through a partnership with the city, county and area businesses, more than 40 GE electric-vehicle charging stations will be installed at hotels, the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, downtown businesses and other locations. Additionally, Enterprise will add more than 10 electric cars to its Greenville rental fleet. Enterprise will also be launching a pilot of its WeCar Program, a membership-based car sharing program, in downtown Greenville using electric vehicles.

“When we talk about sustainability, it’s about more than just saving energy,” says Greenville Mayor Knox White. “It’s about making good business decisions in an era where every dollar must be stretched, it’s about leading in innovation and job creation and it’s about cleaner air.”
