According to DPOE President Chip Miceli, both issues can have great impact on businesses.
Print Management – which takes a “big picture” look at the total process and costs associated with generating a company’s documents – has emerged as a growing trend. By incorporating a Print Management protocol, a business can identify current and anticipated printing needs, ensure optimal equipment performance, develop an ongoing service and maintenance program and ultimately tighten operating costs.
The danger of sensitive information that is stored on old copiers and not properly disposed of has created potentially serious problems for businesses of all sizes; just as laptop and desktop computers have hard drives that store information, so too do office copiers and multifunction printers. In fact, all digital copiers manufactured after 2002 contain hard drives, which store images of documents copied, scanned or e-mailed.
“The re-sale of copiers containing confidential information has become much more prevalent, yet many businesses are not aware of the security threat posed; it is our hope to educate companies on how to protect their sensitive data,” said Miceli. “And we also look forward to presenting information on how Print Management can be a highly cost effective approach to document generation.”
