California's Electric Rebate Continued - Nissan Leaf Buyers Eligible

July 22, 2011 - PRLog -- California’s electric rebate program was discontinued in June of 2011 due to low cash reserves but it appears that the program is in full effect again. Over 15 million dollars will be allotted to the project. Under this program, consumers who purchase an electric car such as the Nissan Leaf, will be eligible for generous rebates. The rebate amount will be less than it was previously; $2,500 will be the maximum rebate given.

One of the most popular electric vehicles on the market today is the Nissan Leaf. It’s a five door hatchback that was built to be aerodynamic. This auto does not utilize any gasoline whatsoever; it is powered strictly by electricity. It has a battery which can be charged at the drivers’ home or a charging station. The lithium iron batter outputs 107 hp. Since the Leaf is an electric vehicle it is ultra quiet. It can reach top speeds of up to 90 miles per hour. The upper level SL trim even comes with a solar panel which absorbs small amounts of energy which can be used to power up the stereo system.

Acceleration is smooth and power is abundant.  Features include a Push Button Start, remote keyless entry and a navigation system. This vehicle is recommended if you have a short commute since it is necessary to recharge around ever one hundred miles or so. One of the main benefits of driving the Leaf is that it is much more affordable to power than a traditional car; charging via electric power is much cheaper than filling up at the gas station. A LCD screen is in place which shows how much power there is left and displays the location of nearby stations. The Leaf also allows owners to set charging time and control the climate functions remotely by using a smart phone.
