Facebook-Born “Awesome Women Hub” Movement Goes Global

July 22, 2011 - PRLog -- The Awesome Women Hub  Movement hit Los Angeles California on July 16th and 17th with a virtual, viral and international impact through the use of facebook.    The Awesome Women Hub, with a force of nearly  17,000 active members on Facebook, is a grass root movement that brings women together from the virtual community for two days of inspiration and “positive and creative social activism.”

In Los Angeles, the tour focused upon honoring the women of our “herstory.” Women from six countries joined in through a one of a kind Virtual RE-Think Tank Conversation on facebook chat  lasting more than seven hours.  Germany, Ireland, Australia, England, Canada, and the United States were represented to RE-Think how we look at our ancestral past and the lessons we can bring forward today.  Robin Rice, founder of the Awesome Women Hub, led the live discussion in LA while Dr. Julie Krull relayed the information from the audience through facebook chat and Dr. Carla Goddard facilitated the virtual conversation from Tampa, Florida.

During the seven hours of facilitated conversation, remarks and comments were shared between the live attendees and the virtual attendees. Women aged 14 to 85 were involved in the conversation, leading to a widespread outreach across social, economic, ethnic and cultural barriers. Future tour stops will include live stream options to reach women in every corner of the globe.  

“A true community of inspiring women has emerged,” one participant commented. “It is an exciting time to be a woman. I loved being part of a grassroots movement that honors the core values and principles of my ancestors.  Family, nurturing support, collaboration rather than competition, and integrity. To learn how to carry that out into the community, my home, and my career is invaluable to me.”

The weekend culminated in a collaboratively created music video by both the live event participants and the virtual RE-Think Tank participants (See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUvinudBkSs). By design,  all live and virutal attendees share the video the moment it is released.
