Aztec Skulls Back In The Studio for New CD

The Aztec Skulls are back in the studio working on tracks for their upcoming CD release REVENGE OF THE SKULLS.

"We didn't want to waste any time before releasing the next CD." explains Pugliese, "We finally got a good groove with this recording thing and we wanted to keep it going."

"The CD will include 10 or 11 new songs." says Martin, "The tracks are a little more varied this time hopefully showing some of our range as musicians and songwriters.  To tell you the truth, I love the whole songwriting and recording process.  You have an idea in your head as to how a song should sound, but a lot of times the song has different ideas.  You just have to go where it takes you."

"There's so much stuff flying around in my head, I wish it would just write itself down so I wouldn't forget." laughs Martin.  "Its probably because there's so much empty room up there." chimes in Pugliese.

One thing for certain is that the Aztec Skulls don't take themselves too seriously.  Naming their first CD, You Can't Sing is a testament to that.  

"We try to have fun with it.  You have to." points out Martin, "Sometimes the process can be stressful.  Its supposed to be fun and we try to remember that."  

In 2010, the Aztec Skulls released their debut CD, YOU CAN'T SING.  The CD was well received in many circles and praised for the songwriting, sense of humor and unique sound.  

“Where does our sound come from?  Your guess is as good as mine.” Says Martin laughing.  “Probably from the dollar store.”  

Regardless of their lighthearted dismissal, the Aztec Skulls have been able to generate a sound that is new and yet familiar at the same time.  Utilizing driving beats and cool guitar hooks, you can’t help but tap your foot along and all indications point to another great collection of tracks.

Featuring 10 or 11 new tracks, REVENGE OF THE SKULLS is scheduled to be available for pre-sale on September, 6 2011.  As with their debut CD, YOU CAN'T SING, this CD will be released on the Anthracite-Records label.
